TEA PARTY IS ACTIVE ON MAUI!

The TEA Party is active on Maui. Have you seen the results from this weekend’s primary in Hawaii?  TEA Party candidates are on the ballot in force – especially on Maui.  Currently, Hawaii’s State Senate has 25 senators – 2 Republicans and 23 Democrats. The State House has 51 members – 45 Democrats, 5 Republicans, and 1 empty seat – formerly Republican but the Rep is the current GOP candidate for HI Lt. Governor.

Fed up with the declining conservative voice in a system that has been dominated by a Democratic Supermajority since receiving Statehood, conservative TEA Party candidates have stepped up this year.  In the last election, 39 state and county seats went uncontested. This year all but 3 have conservative candidates running. Many of the candidates are new to the political scene and come to it from the local TEA Parties!

This weekend John Willoughby, the TEA Party underdog, defeated the GOP favorite Ramsey Wharton. The race was close (1%) and some in the GOP were looking for ways to have a recount to see if they could keep their favorite.

On Maui, TEA Party candidates abound – Eric Seibert running for State Senate
District 4, is on to the General Election.  He is running against a 2 term, tax and spend Democrat who has run unopposed for 8 years.  Ramon Madden – State House Candidate District 10, another TEA Party favorite, defeated his less conservative GOP candidate.  Jeff Hoylman - State House Candidate District 9 is running on a platform of Christian Values, Smaller Government and Lower Taxes.  Dean Schmucker - State House Candidate District 8, is another newcomer to the politcal scene with strong conservative principles.  Laurie Rinaldi - State House Candidate District 12, is a strong conservative and supporter of the Maui Tea Party.  Secretary of the Maui Tea Party, Lisa Gapero, is running a spirited campaign for the Wailuku-Waihee-Waikapu seat for the Maui County Council.

We urge all Tea Party members to embrace these homegrown candidates and help them to victory on November 2, 2010, Take Out the Trash Day!
